About Emilie (she/her): Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I heard that the "About" page is one of the most clicked on pages on websites. Rightly so. If I am looking for a doctor, trying to get my oil changed, or checking out a new restaurant, I have already looked at their website, checked out their prices, and tried to get the best feel for what my experience will be like. You are likely looking at my website and my picture right now with the same intention and probably asking yourself a few questions - will she be able to relate to me? can she help me?
Can she relate to me? Yes! I love working with young women in their 20s and 30s. This time of life is complex and full of opportunity, challenges, and growth. As a Clinical Social Worker, I come from a systems theory foundation which means that I recognize that stress or changes in one area of life has impact across many, if not all, other life areas. Additionally, I know firsthand some of the challenges of balancing the many hats that the 20s and 30s bring. Although I may have had similar experiences, I recognize that your experiences are unique to you and I look forward to journeying alongside you.
Can she help me? Yes! I have training in evidence based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-focused therapy which have been proven effective in addressing depression and anxiety. I have worked with children, youth, and families for my 14 year career. I have worked in a variety of settings including family crisis intervention, housing programs, community mental health, and public school systems. As a therapist, I am relational and person centered in my approach. I recognize that you are the one that is capable of making changes to reach your goals.
Does she have a life outside of being a therapist? (I added this one.) Yes! In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my two young children and husband of 9 years, being outside, and working on our home.
